Summer's End

I had the urge to do some watercolor painting, but I had no idea of what I wanted to paint. So I decided to splash some color on paper and see where it would lead me. My color selection reflected the mood I was in, which was happy. I loved the swirl of bright colors and how they come together. but I still had no idea what I wanted to do next. So I went looking though a bunch of photos that my daughter took in her garden. I just love her dahlia photos and they always inspire me. And there it was, a large beautiful dahlia reaching to the sun. This was the star of my painting. Once it was painted, flowers seem to suggest themselves in the rest of the painting. I love painting spontaneously like this!
